#ignatius500 Anniversary of the Conversion of St Ignatius

Jesuit Resources in Southern Africa

Our parishes are guided by the spirituality of St Ignatius, and are committed to “a faith that does justice.”

Our retreat centers welcome individuals and groups for days of recollection, private retreats or spiritual direction.

Our Jesuit schools and Arrupe Jesuit University educate our future leaders to become men and women for others.

Ignatian Spirituality aims to bring people closer to God and more deeply into the world with gratitude, passion and humility.

Our social ministries serve where needs are greatest, from the inner city to the rural missions across our Province.

Our Universal Apostolic Preferences

They are four working fields to which the Society of Jesus will pay special attention and in which it will invest a significant portion of its various resources over the next few years.

Showing the way to God

Showing the way to God through the Spiritual Exercises.

Walking with the Excluded

Walking with the poor and those on the margins in a mission of reconciliation and justice.

Journeying with Youth

Accompanying young people in the creation of a hope-filled future.

Caring for our Common Home

Collaborating in the care of the earth, our common home.

These Universal Apostolic Preferences inform our three Apostolic Priorities

Youth Ministry

This includes our work with Secondary schools and university chaplaincies, Spiritual associations of the youth, Education and Outreach programs, focused on youth issues, skills training and job creation.

Justice

Broadly understood to include apostolates that focus on reconciliation and peace-building; environmental justice; and leadership, governance and anti-corruption.

Ignatian Spirituality

The foundation of our apostolic work stemps from the promotion of prayer and personal encounter with Christ, retreats, and the work of training people in Spiritual Accompaniment, as well as those apostolates that develop the experience and understanding of Ignatian Spirituality through Christian Life Communities, Magis and other lay groups.
